Prima Vista Wimberley Wedding Venue Guide

Prima Vista in Wimberley just held an open house, and I spent the evening walking the property with my phone in hand. I came away with a new favorite on my list of Texas Hill Country wedding venues. It has the ranch feel couples come to Wimberley for, plus a touch of luxury I haven't seen anywhere else nearby: a newly installed dome made of real marble, sitting in its own fountain moat.

Every photo in this guide is a quick cellphone snapshot from the open house, taken around sunset. There are no couples in them, just the venue the way you'd see it on a tour. Even so, they show why I think Prima Vista is going to photograph beautifully.

The Marble Dome

The dome was the highlight of my visit. Its columns, railings and floor are real marble, crowned with a wrought-iron cupola, and the whole structure is surrounded by a fountain moat. You walk in across a small marble bridge. On its own it's elegant. When the sunset hits it from the right angle, the white stone warms up to soft gold and the Hill Country glows behind it.

As a photographer, I love how many ways it can be used. It's a stunning frame for portraits of the two of you, a natural spot for a first look, and a focal point you can see from the ceremony seating and the deck. The moat adds reflections and a sense of place that a plain lawn gazebo can't match.

A Rustic Outdoor Ceremony Site

The outdoor ceremony space is beautiful in a relaxed, rustic way. Rows of chairs face a wooden pergola draped in fabric, with a timber frame and a hanging bell at the entrance. Mature live oaks shade the site, and the marble dome sits just beyond. Guests get a Hill Country ceremony, and your photos get two very different looks in one view: weathered wood and oaks on one side, white marble on the other.

Around the ceremony site, paths wind under live oaks strung with lights. There's a rope swing hanging from one of the trees, and late in the day the sun comes through the branches in long golden beams. These are exactly the kinds of spots I look for during portrait time, and Prima Vista has plenty of them within a short walk.

The Main Hall and the Deck

The main hall is very spacious, with a vaulted ceiling, a stone feature wall and windows that look toward the sunset. It has room for a full dinner layout, a dance floor and catering stations without feeling crowded, which makes reception coverage easy, from the grand entrance to the last dance.

Next to the hall is a huge wooden deck that overlooks the ceremony site and the dome. It's a natural place for cocktail hour while the light is at its best. Guests can watch the sunset, and I can step away with the two of you for golden-hour portraits without anyone feeling left out.

Great for Engagement Photos Too

Prima Vista isn't only for wedding days. With the marble dome, the oak-lined paths, the swing and the open Hill Country views, there are almost too many beautiful spots to choose from. That variety makes it a great setting for an engagement session, especially if you're getting married there and want a preview of how the property photographs at sunset.

Who Prima Vista Is Right For

Prima Vista is a great fit for couples who want a ranch, outdoor vibe without giving up style. The rustic ceremony site and the oaks keep it relaxed and true to the Hill Country, while the marble dome brings a touch of luxury that makes the day feel elevated. It's big enough for a medium to large wedding, and there's plenty of parking, so guests aren't left circling a gravel lot.

What I'd Tell a Couple Touring Prima Vista

Plan your timeline around the sunset. The dome, the hall windows and the deck all face the evening light, so a late-afternoon ceremony followed by golden-hour portraits at the dome is the best way to use this property. Check the sunset time for your date, and build in 20 to 30 minutes for portraits right before sunset.

If you can, tour it in the evening like I did. Daytime photos don't show what the light does to the marble, and seeing it for yourself is the best way to picture your own day there. Wimberley is an easy drive from both San Antonio and Austin, which makes Prima Vista a good middle ground for families split between the two cities.
