Granberry Hills Event Facility is one of our preferred wedding venue partners here in San Antonio, and after touring the property myself, it's easy to see why so many couples end up booking it. Set on 15 landscaped acres with easy access to downtown hotels, Granberry Hills gives couples two distinct venue spaces to choose from — The Gardenside and The Hillside — and each one photographs completely differently.

As a San Antonio wedding photographer, I love venues that give a couple options instead of a single fixed look, and Granberry Hills does exactly that.

The Gardenside vs. The Hillside

The Gardenside leans into a softer, more romantic garden setting — think greenery, natural light, and the kind of backdrop that works beautifully for both ceremony and portrait coverage. The Hillside has a different energy: more elevated, a little more dramatic in its sightlines, and a strong option for couples who want their reception to feel a bit grander.

Because the venue is built for weddings, quinceañeras, and corporate events alike, everything is designed with flow in mind — getting guests from ceremony seating to cocktail hour to reception without a lot of dead time, which keeps a wedding day timeline moving and gives us more usable light for photos instead of losing it to logistics.

A Venue Built for the Elements

One detail I appreciated on the walkthrough: Granberry Hills markets itself as "a venue for the elements," which in practice means there's real indoor/covered backup built into the plan. Central Texas weather doesn't always cooperate, and a venue that has already solved that problem takes one major stress point off a couple's plate — and off mine, since it means the timeline doesn't collapse if the forecast changes.

The on-site coordination team also handles setup and logistics throughout wedding week, including early drop-off and rehearsal accommodations, which matters more than people expect when the schedule is tight the days before a wedding.

Photography Notes for Granberry Hills Couples

If you're touring Granberry Hills, ask to see both Gardenside and Hillside in the same visit if you can — they're different enough in feel that seeing them side by side makes the decision easier. And if your wedding party is large, the grounds give us plenty of room to spread out for group portraits without repeating the same backdrop twice.

Granberry Hills also offers flexible packages for micro weddings and ceremony-only events, so it's a strong option even if you're planning something smaller and more intimate.

Granberry Hills has also been a strong referral partner for us here at Radiance Photography — they feature preferred vendors on their own site, and we're glad to return the favor here for any couple weighing their venue options. If you're booking a photographer alongside your venue, it's worth asking any venue you tour whether they have similar preferred-vendor relationships; it usually means smoother coordination on the wedding day itself, since the venue staff and photography team have already worked together before.
